5 episodes in and I can’t decide whether the Willow TV show is any good.

The start was good but it now feels like someone had an idea for an epic 3 hour movie, before being asked to expand it. Willow is still up there as one of my favourite films because it was a simple fantasy movie about good vs evil, this however is even trying to justify the actions of some of those most evil characters you have seen on screen (it worked in Cobra Kai).
Even the soundtrack doesn’t make sense. I like Metallica but in a sword and sorcery fantasy (feels like someone liked a Knights Tale too much) and Black Hole Sun done on the piano, just seem out of place in a fantasy (imagine the final battle in the Two Towers done to Ride the Lightning… Sounds cool but needs to be followed by one of those really gifs).
But even more bizarre is a scene where two characters appear dressed as modern day woodcutter (jeans, checked shirts and hats).
I really have no idea what Disney have tried to achieve, as these elements feel kind of forced. Even Warwick Davies seems like he’s hosting an episode of Tenables most of the time or doing his vet impression of himself from Life is Short.
You get the idea each episode had to have an element where someone plucked an idea out of hat just for laugh.
Either way there are some great ideas but it already feels like it’s being dragged out.
3 episodes to go but I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re a massive fan of Willow or Tenables.
